Burke Creek Homemade Granola
This recipe is our household staple. Rather than store bought cereal this is made with whole grains and without refined sugar. It will be part of our family holiday brunch, and it if you need any last minute homemade gifts this is perfect.
Ingredients:
8 cups whole flake rolled oats
1/2 cup each - sesame seed, sunflower seeds, nuts and bran
1 cup unsweetened coconut
1 cup wheat germ
Mix above together
Combine following together:
1/2 cup coconut oil
1/4 cup water
1 tbsp vanilla
1 tsp salt
3/4 cup honey
Directions:
Preheat oven to 300 degrees C. Mix wet ingredients together then stir over dry ingredients. Bake until dry, this is a lengthy process. 20 minutes, then stir, then 20-30 more minutes. I add dried fruit after baking; either raisins, candied ginger, dates, dried cranberries, dried apricots what ever we have on hand.
